A parent is working with her children who have some problems with
reading comprehension. The problem is the children don’t fully
understand the books they read and how to answer comprehension
questions. The children can retell the story and describe what
happens in general terms. They can describe the characters and what
they do. They can even describe the setting, although not in great
detail. What they need is practice with was answering specific
comprehension questions about plot, setting, and characters. To
help solve this problem, the parent uses
FlinkMake to create
an interactive comprehension activity on the computer in
minutes.
The interactive worksheet is fun and engaging, with an appealing
character. It combines pictures and text with blanks in the text
and words to fill in the blanks. Children drag the words from the
bottom of the screen into the blanks in the text. When they have
filled all the blanks, they get feedback as to how they did. There
is even a way to ask the computer to give the correct answer (after
an umber of incorrect answer choices). The parent can make tens of
problems in minutes, providing children with all the comprehension
practice they need.
